Client Agreement & Terms of Service

This Client Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines the terms under which Decluttering With Care (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides services to clients (“you” or “client”). By booking, paying for, or participating in services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms below.

1. Scope of Services

Decluttering With Care provides emotional support, guidance, coaching, and planning assistance related to decluttering, transitions, digital organization, and decision-making around personal belongings.

Services may include:

  • Compassionate conversation and emotional support

  • Decision-making guidance and prioritization

  • Planning, checklists, and next-step support

  • Digital guidance (files, photos, accounts, legacy planning conversations)

  • Verbal suggestions and reflections

What We Do Not Provide

Decluttering With Care does not provide:

  • Physical hauling, removal, cleaning, or storage

  • Moving services

  • Professional organizing services

  • Legal, financial, medical, mental health, or estate planning advice

  • Appraisal or valuation of items

All decisions remain the responsibility of the client.

2. Client Responsibility & Decision-Making

You acknowledge that:

  • You are the sole decision-maker regarding your belongings, digital assets, and personal information

  • Any actions taken before, during, or after sessions are your responsibility

  • Decluttering With Care does not guarantee outcomes, timelines, or emotional results

Our role is supportive and facilitative, not directive or custodial.

3. Valuables & Personal Property

Clients are solely responsible for the safekeeping of all personal property, including but not limited to:

  • Jewelry

  • Cash

  • Important documents

  • Heirlooms

  • Sentimental or irreplaceable items

Decluttering With Care is not responsible for loss, damage, or misplacement of personal property during or after sessions.

We strongly recommend that all valuables be secured by the client prior to sessions.

4. Emotional Nature of Services

You understand and acknowledge that:

  • Decluttering and legacy-related conversations may involve emotional discomfort, grief, or stress

  • Emotional responses are a normal part of this work

  • Decluttering With Care does not provide therapy or mental health treatment

If you experience distress beyond your comfort level, you agree to pause the session and seek appropriate professional support if needed.

5. Liability & Limitation of Responsibility

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Decluttering With Care shall not be liable for emotional distress, indirect damages, family disputes, or downstream outcomes related to client decisions

  • Decluttering With Care is not responsible for disagreements among family members or third parties

  • Our total liability, if any, is limited to the amount paid for the specific service in question

6. Sessions, Scheduling & Cancellations

  • Sessions are delivered as described at booking

  • Cancellations or rescheduling must be made at least 48 hours in advance

  • Late cancellations or no-shows may be non-refundable (unless otherwise stated)

Specific policies may vary by service package.

7. Payment & Refunds

  • Payment is required in advance unless otherwise agreed

  • Due to the personalized nature of services, refunds are not guaranteed

  • Partial or unused sessions are non-transferable unless explicitly approved

8. Confidentiality

We treat all client conversations with care and discretion. However:

  • Confidentiality does not extend to illegal activity or situations involving immediate harm

  • Decluttering With Care cannot guarantee confidentiality when third-party platforms (email, video conferencing, booking software) are used

9. Virtual Services & Technology

For virtual or digital services:

  • Clients are responsible for internet access and technology

  • Decluttering With Care is not responsible for technical disruptions beyond our control

  • We do not store passwords, login credentials, or sensitive financial information

10. Termination of Services

Decluttering With Care reserves the right to pause or terminate services if:

  • Boundaries are violated

  • Services fall outside scope

  • Safety concerns arise

  • Payment terms are not met

Unused sessions may be forfeited at our discretion.

11. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state in which Decluttering With Care is registered.

12. Acceptance of Agreement

By booking or paying for services, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood this Agreement

  • You agree to the scope, limitations, and responsibilities outlined above

  • You consent to participate in services under these terms

Decluttering With Care exists to support you with compassion, clarity, and respect. Clear boundaries allow us to provide care responsibly and sustainably.
